Project meeting in Egypt
May 2024
Giza – Egypt
The STAPLES project, funded by the PRIMA Programme, marked the successful completion of its first year with a two-day project meeting hosted by the Economic Research Forum in Giza, Egypt.
The event brought together representatives from ten partner institutions across Europe, Egypt, and Morocco, along with the local chamber of commerce, to review the progress achieved and to define a shared roadmap for the next two years of project implementation.
Collaborative sessions and thematic working groups
The meeting featured bilateral discussions and thematic working groups, each addressing specific dimensions of the project—such as virtual water analysis, traditional rainfed cereals in Egypt and Morocco, trade flows and related challenges, innovative digital tools, and methodologies for field research and community engagement. These sessions highlighted the interdisciplinary expertise and collaborative approach that define the STAPLES consortium.
With the support of PRIMA Project Officer Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Wageih and strong local engagement, the Giza meeting laid a solid foundation for continued coordination and joint efforts as the project enters its second year. The consortium renews its commitment to building resilience in the cereal supply chain across MENA countries.
